Taken yesterday morning during one of the many cloud bursts of rain. You can see the water lying on the garden, for Pete's sake! |

No need to fill the birdbath!! No playing with Duffy and his big beach ball either :( Water barrel is full though--overflowing actually! |
We've had quite a bit of rain since last week. In fact we have had our whole month's total in a couple of days! Yikes!! We went from dry, dry, dry and cool, to wet, wetter, wettest, and still cool. Apparently we aren't done with the rain yet, as it's supposed to rain on Thursday and Friday. We always go from one extreme to another. The rain has caused some flooding problems for people living in the districts that are on the flood plain of the North Saskatchewan. Some roads flooded from backed-up storm sewers. And we can expect to see tons of mosquitoes again--oh goody!! But today is the first day of Summer! Are we going to have a Summer? We didn't have much of a Spring. All we can do is hope!!!

We haven't had much of a spring either... mostly it was more winter like, and wet too, and we are supposed to be in the desert! Ugh.
Your garden looks great :) The sun is out to mark the occasion - so I'm taking that as a good sign.
You're really getting the er, less glamourous end of the stick when it comes to weather. Winter was terrible, spring not so great, now this...let's hope you have a warm, Indian-summer type fall (and maybe July and August will be hot and sunny, fingers crossed).
Hey, I forgot to say how much I love seeing the flower photos on your blog...every time I check in, I get all excited looking forward to what I'll see... the lilacs are lovely. I don't think we even have any here...I've not seen one lilac bush since I moved here. Lots of hibiscus and roses though.
Thanks for the compliment about my garden Jane!
Yes, this sure has been a tough year for the weather. A cold, very snowy winter, a cool, dry Spring which has morphed into a deluge of rain. We have had some better days than Southern Alberta though. Let's hope for a sunny, warm Summer and a decent Fall!
I'm glad you like the flower photos Jacqueline!! Maybe they lilacs in places like Melbourne or Adelaide, where it's not quite as hot as Perth?
I think maybe you'll have what we are having. Winter, Rain, then HOT SUMMER!! No in between. Your flowers are gorgeous and Duffy's beach ball looks so sad all by itself!
Dad used to live in Grand Forks, ND and has been following the Minot story with interest. He sure hopes you don't get that type of flooding.
